1. About Us

SOS Rhino is a non-profit, international foundation dedicated to preserving the five rhinoceros species in their natural habitats. Our conservation programs combine research, education, marketing and advocacy, all working collectively to achieve sustainable results.

Through diverse stakeholder support, SOS Rhino develops and funds rhino conservation and awareness programs appropriate to individual countries, providing these countries with the information and tools to build lasting rhino conservation.

It is our goal to secure a place for this ancient animal in tomorrow’s world.

2. World Rhino News

Behind the rhino deaths
IN RESPONSE to the various articles and letters some very critical, erroneous, and prejudiced that have appeared recently in the newspapers about the rhino deaths at the Sungai Dusun Sumatran Rhino Conservation Centre, the Malaysian Rhino Foundation, the International Rhino Foundation and I personally believe that some facts and clarifications are in order.

Rhinos head back home
There are less than 600 black rhinos left because of poachers Two black rhinos which were born and bred in Kent are to be released back into their natural habitat. The five-year-old animals, Kivu and Tana, were raised at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park near Hythe. They are soon going to embark on a journey back to South Africa where they will live in a game reserve and help preserve the species.

First, a bit of background on my trip to Sabah. I was in Southeast Asia with my friend (Becky Sylvester) as part of a trip with Global Vets (an organization run by student veterinarians thats intent is to set up a network of international veterinary contacts).

Volunteer
SOS RHINO is looking for volunteers interested in helping us in our efforts to save the Sumatran rhinoceros. Our Borneo Team is studying the demographics of the remaining animals in Tabin Wildlife Reserve to determine when patrol units, habitat protection, or translocation may play a role in the rhinos' survival.
